The staff and the fundamental contractor to customer relationship that Rudy provided both myself, and my family was absolutely amazing! Sincerely, I was in desperate need of a kitchen redo, and these “small redos” are not cheep as we all know. One thing comes up, that leads to absolutely having to change everything! I then was recommended by my next door neighbor over to Rudy with 1626 Construction.

We spoke and we acknowledged my situation, that was I had a very small budget, and a kitchen in desperate need of a fix up .. Rudy contacted his crew that evening to come take a look! I think the good test of whether you would recommend someone is whether you’d recommend them to do work on your Mom’s house - and I most certainly would!

We got connected with Rudy through a referral from a friend, who had her kitchen remodelled with Rudy & his crew. Upon meeting, we instantly knew he would be a good ‘chemistry’ fit for us - he’s open, collaborative, and a friendly and humble man. Following some less than great meetings with other GCs, Rudy immediately put us at ease and was more than accommodating to give us pricing quickly, and answer any questions we had. Once we agreed to go ahead with our bathroom and kitchen remodel with him, demo was underway within a week and a half (we were incredibly lucky there!).

From day one, Rudy was on site each day, checking in with his crew to ensure their quality of work was up to his (and our) standards. He was communicative, sending regular text updates, and he was always happy to answer any questions we had along the way. His crew are incredibly timely, arriving on time every single day and working through to 5, sometimes 6 to get the work done for the day. Even our neighbours commented that they were impressed by the crew so we made sure they got Rudy’s business card too!

Nothing was too big a problem for Rudy - when we had a few broken or late deliveries of parts and appliances, he was super accommodating and adjusted the schedule to make sure that we still kept momentum and were able to finish the full project in the six week timeline we had agreed.
It’s always hard when you’re having work done on your house, and living in it at the same time but it couldn’t have gone smoother - and Rudy will always be my go to guy for any future projects.

1626 Construction was such a pleasure to work with! We were previously working with a landscaping company for a plunge pool installation (pre-fab concrete pool) here in Austin, as well as, revamping our backyard to surround the pool. The previous landscaping company was dragging their feet, not following through, so we decided to change direction and hire a different company -- enter 1626 Construction. What a great decision! Rudy and his team were exactly what we needed to restore confidence in our project.

The guys were punctual every morning and started working first thing. From observing them, you can tell they take pride in the quality and craftsmanship of their work. We had 1626 build a new limestone retaining wall, install a new 8' fence, sod the yard, install the plunge pool, level-up and rock/paver the area surrounding the pool, weld a built-in metal planter box, and build a metal "mini" retaining wall to hold the rock and gravel in place from our sloping yard.
I love the results!

Rudy and his team stayed true to the timeline of the project (of course weather delays can happen) - we felt excited every week to see the progress. We also enjoyed having an overall estimate of the cost to start the project, then be invoiced weekly to pay for the progression ... It keeps all parties moving in the right direction, and working together.

I have friends who are wanting some landscaping help, I will 100% recommend 1626 Construction to them AND will use them again as we need projects done at our home. It's refreshing to say this was a pleasant experience!.

We completed an extensive renovation of 2 bathrooms, kitchen (with skylight), master bedroom, and master closet with full demolition and some structural work.

About Us

Rudy Lopez** is the Owner and Operator of 1626 Construction LLC. He began his career in the building trades as a laborer and apprentice with a well-known company in Las Vegas, NV, at the start of 2000.
After five years of gaining experience in various aspects of residential construction, Rudy moved to Austin, where he worked for a masonry company in West Austin. His growing expertise and skills led him to become an independent contractor, specializing in both commercial and residential projects.
The 2008 recession hit the construction industry hard, especially for small businesses. After a few years staying afloat, Rudy took on the role of Senior Estimator for a commercial and residential construction company based in Austin.
During this time, Rudy collaborated with a talented team of architects, designers, and tradespeople, working on high-quality renovations, commercial construction, and custom homes. Many of these projects received awards and industry recognition in Central Texas. He also became well-versed in the building permits and processes, adapting to the evolving regulations in Austin.
With over 20 years of experience, Rudy took a leap of faith and established himself as a general contractor in 2021. His goal is to deliver top-quality renovations and construction through a personalized and transparent process.
**Linda Baier**, Rudy’s wife and business partner, is the Office Manager for 1626 Construction LLC. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from a Jesuit University and brings valuable experience in financial analysis to the company. Linda joined 1626 Construction full-time in 2022 and has been essential in managing the company’s finances.
Together with their children, Linda and Rudy are active members of Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda, TX, and they also volunteer with organizations like The Salvation Army and El Buen Samaritano.
Coming from humble beginnings in El Salvador, they are proud to be living the American Dream.
